John Milton Slatton, 79, of Paragould, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022.  He was born January 8, 1943, in Pumpkin Center, Arkansas, to Leo David Slatton and Virginia Haller.  John retired from ministry.  He was preaching at New Friendship Baptist when he retired.  John enjoyed carpentry and train sets.  John loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

John was preceded in death by his parents and step-grandson, Nathan Swafford.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Shirley Slatton; son and daughter-in-law, John and Shalane Slatton; daughter and son-in-law, Missy and Jonathan Wright; brothers, David Slatton, Tommy Slatton, Ronald Slatton, and Donald Slatton; sisters, Patricia McDole, Catherine Witbrodt, Carol Gibson, and Irene Gregory; grandchildren, Tyler Wright, C.J. Slatton, Hannah Berryhill, Lee Swafford, and Skylar Swafford; and great-grandchildren, Cash Wright, Teagan Wright, Presley Forbs, and Kason Shaw.

The family will receive friends Friday, February 11, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home.  A procession will leave the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. for a graveside service at New Friendship Cemetery with Wilburn Griggs officiating.
