Larry Dale Markum, of Paragould, passed away from lung cancer on Saturday, January 23, 2022, at the age of 69.
Larry was born in Black Oak, AR, on October 19, 1952, to Cora Edna and Troy Markum. He was raised in Stanford, AR, by his mother and was extremely close to her. He moved to St. Louis with his mom at age 15 and moved back and forth between Arkansas and St. Louis several times. Larry met his wife, Kimberly, in St. Louis and permanently moved the family back to Paragould in 1991. From his mom, he learned to be a great cook and was known for his exceptional BBQ. Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved the mountains and outdoors in general. Most of all he loved his family. He was known for his keen sense of humor and loved to laugh and have fun.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Cora Edna Markum; father, Troy Markum; brothers, Otis Markum, Jerry Markum, Leslie Wayne Markum, and Danny Markum.
Larry is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kimberly Markum; daughter, Sandra Lee Markum; son, Shane Dale Markum (Stephanie); son/grandson, Wayne Dale Markum; grandchildren, Cassie Hoots, Katlynne Hoots, Sheyanne Barr, Hayden Holden, Caleb Markum, Kirstyn Markum, Shane Markum, Jr.; brother, Eddie Markum (Judy); and lifelong friends, Bobby Witcher and Sid McClung.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 28, from 12:00 p.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home.
