Lila Carol Moats Shockley, devoted wife, mother and Nana, went to her Heavenly home Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the age of 75. Born May 18, 1950, in Monongahela, PA to Raymond Moats and Opal Gary Moats, Lila was one of six children. Her family moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1967. While in Detroit, Lila met Gary Keith Shockley and they married December 26, 1969. The couple moved to Gary's family's farm in Rector, AR shortly after the birth of their firstborn, a daughter, Susan. Their son, Jason was born soon thereafter and they began to raise their family in Paragould, AR.
Lila began her career with First National Bank in 1984, and served in several capacities until her retirement as VP of Human Resources in 2017. She made many life-long friendships during her tenure at First National Bank.
Lila created a home of unconditional love. Quality time with family was important to her. She found joy in raising her children, being with grandchildren and cuddling with her dachshund, Buddy. She was genuine, witty and charismatic.
Lila is preceded in death by daughter Susan Renee Shockley England; son Jason Wyatt Shockley; granddaughter Olivia Catherine England; father Raymond Moats; mother Opal Gary Moats; brothers Timmy and Gary Moats; sister Aletta father-in-law O.Z. Shockley; mother-in-law Helen Purdom Shockley; brother-in-law Scott Shockley
Lila is survived by her loving husband Gary Shockley; faithful dachshund Buddy; son-in-law and wife Chris and Ashley England; grandson Lane England of Paragould, AR; daughter-in-law and husband Carmen and Doug Kimbrough; granddaughter Evie Shockley of Austin, Tx.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 17, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Kelly Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery.
Chris England, Lane England, Melvin Howard, Shawn Gibson, Kenny Highfill, and David Wolz will serve as pallbearers. Greg Graham, George Spence, Tony Gibson, Perry Mills, and Gary Rogers will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to St. Jude Hospital.
