Obituary

Lucy Ruth (Howell) Prince departed this life on August 7, 2021.  She resided with her husband of 64 years, James E. Prince, at Marmaduke, Arkansas.

Lucy was born February 3, 1941, in Black Oak, Arkansas, to the late Albert and Linnes (Vaughn) Howell.  She married James July 11, 1957.

Lucy is survived by her husband, James E. Prince of the home; four sons and daughters-in-law that she considered as daughters, Eddie and Derina Prince, Mike and Tammy Prince of Marmaduke, Tony Prince, and Mark Prince of Jonesboro.

She is survived by her grandchildren, April (Jeremy) Carter, Brandy (Jason) Lopez, Kesha (Matt) Palmer, Cody (Sheila) Prince, Heather (Jason) Mosley; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by two sisters, Janiece Howell and Pamela (Jack) Napier of Benton Harbor, Michigan; a host of cousins, nieces, nephew, and friends.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Linnes Howell; two brothers, Albert and Rex Howell; two sisters, Juanita Howell and Nancy Gray.

Lucy was a devoted Wife, loving Mother, and Grandmother or "Granny" to her family.  Family was her life.  She devoted many hours to caring for her family; she was a wonderful cook and found no greater pleasure than preparing a meal and having family gather around the table to enjoy!

Our family will be lost without our Matriarch, better known as our precious Mom and Wife.

Thank God we have that blessed hope and assurance that we will one day be reunited around the family table with Mom and all of our loved ones who have gone on before.

She enjoyed caring for others; she worked for many years as a private in-home caregiver for many people throughout the years.

She loved people, anyone that knew her would agree.  She always had a beautiful smile to share, along with a hug.

Lucy was a longtime follower of Christ.  Anyone who knew Mom would tell you that she wasn't around you long without Christ coming into the conversation.  She not only talked about the Lord, but also let the love of Christ shine through her life and oftentimes would ask if you had a personal relationship with Christ.  She often would say, "The most important relationship in life is the relationship that a person has with Christ, and to live for him as your Lord and Savior."  She was of the Assembly of God belief.

A graveside service will be 2 pm Tuesday, August 10, at Gainesville Cemetery with Jerry Reed officiating.

Eddie Prince, Mike Prince, Tony Prince, Mark Prince, Dakota Prince, and Rodney Hoots will serve as pallbearers.  Cody Prince will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Leslye McGrath and Dierksen Hospice for the wonderful care Lucy received.
