Marcie Lou Walden passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on March 26, 1945, to Leroy and Irene Walden, Marcie lived a long life with Cerebral Palsy.

Despite her disability, Marcie overcame many obstacles along the way. Marcie graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1965. She served many years helping at John T. Gray School.

She dedicated most of her life to church, where she typed and designed the weekly bulletin for Clark's Chapel Baptist Church and New Friendship Baptist Church. Her devotion to children was a life long love. She taught Sunday School classes as well as many, many years of Vacation Bible School classes.

Most knew Marcie's love for crafts. She would work all year on birthday and Christmas presents for family and friends. Cross stich was one of many things she accomplished despite being told she couldn't because of her life with CP.

Marcie is preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick Leroy Walden and Ollie Irene Thompson Walden; paternal grandparents, Fred and Florence Walden; and maternal grandparents, Jed and Mattie Thompson.

She leaves behind many family and friends including her household who loved her dearly, Layne, Baylee, and Rayleing Gonser.

A graveside service under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home will be held on Friday, January 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Finch Cemetery with Bro. Ron Blankenship officiating.

Ben Gonser, Layne Gonser, William Bailey, Tommy Bowers, and Mark Graftenreed will serve as pallbearers. Wesley Hathcoat will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
