Obituary

Marty Sue (Clark) Brown passed away on Monday, October 12, 2026, in Jonesboro, Arkansas at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born on November 16, 1968, in Paragould, and will be remembered as a woman whose warmth, style, and deep love for others left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

One of the sweetest chapters of Marty’s life began in August of 1988, when she first met the man who would become her husband. While working at the Walmart customer service desk, Marty was standing on a paint can so she could see over the counter when Lance Brown noticed her and asked her out. She turned him down the first time, but Lance did not give up. A couple of months later, he called and asked again, and this time Marty said yes. That second chance became a lasting love story, and the two were married on March 24, 1989.

Marty spent her entire career in banking, including her work in the loan department at First National Bank. She was genuinely someone who loved people, and that spirit showed in every part of her life. She found the good in everyone, was outgoing, and loved to socialize. Her life was centered on family and faith, and those values guided the way she cared for others and lived each day.

Nothing brought Marty more joy than the people she loved. She never missed her children’s sporting events, showing up with enthusiasm and support, always with an outfit chosen to match the occasion. She loved her clothes, shoes, and jewelry, and her sense of style was a reflection of her lively and joyful personality. She also treasured time with her friends and always looked forward to girl’s trips, making happy memories through laughter, companionship, and shared adventures.

Among her proudest blessings were her grandchildren, who knew her lovingly as “Mar Mar.” That name carried the tenderness and delight she felt in being their grandmother, and it was a role she cherished deeply.

Marty is survived by her husband, Lance Brown; her father, Larry Clark; her mother, Carol Cagle; her son, Dylan Brown (Morgan); her daughter, Bailey Hensley (Blake); her brother, Jason Clark (Ronda); her sister, Charlotte Hester; her mother-in-law, Ina Brown; and her sister-in-law, Tracy Foster. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Atley Brown and Brylee Hensley, who brought her immense pride and joy. Marty will also be lovingly remembered by her dear friends Karen Farley, Sandra Wright, Shannon Hovis, and Leigha Roleson, whose friendship added so much happiness to her life; and her many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her best friend, Sheri Lenderman, whose place in Marty’s heart remained special.

Visitation under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home will be held on October 15, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Grace Point Church of Christ, 1405 Bridger Rd, Jonesboro, AR 72401.

Marty Sue Brown will be remembered for her generous heart, her bright presence, her devotion to her family, and the way she made people feel seen and valued. Her memory will live on in the lives she touched, in the love of her family, and in the many cherished moments that will not be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, Marty would be honored with donations the Grace Point Church of Christ Building Fund.
