In Loving Memory of Mary Lou Dykstra
November 5, 1946 – June 12, 2026

Mary Lou Dykstra, born on November 5, 1946, in Kalamazoo, passed peacefully from this life on June 12, 2026, and joined her Heavenly Father.

Throughout her life, Mary Lou was devoted to her family. She dedicated herself to being a loving wife, mother of three children, and homemaker. She spent countless hours caring for her family, creating a warm and welcoming home, and expressing her creativity through arts and crafts. Her greatest joy was providing love, comfort, and stability for those she cherished.

Mary Lou was the beloved daughter of William and Lucille Nufer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Duane Dykstra; her son, Duane Allen Dykstra; her three brothers; two sisters; and one beloved grandchild.

Mary Lou is lovingly remembered by her surviving family:

Her daughter-in-law, Terrie Dykstra, widow of Duane Allen Dykstra, and their two children, one son and one daughter.

Her son, Barny Lee Dykstra, and Emy Pora Dykstra of Michigan, and their five daughters.

Her daughter, Susan Lynn Murphy, and son-in-law James E. Murphy Jr., and their six children—three sons and three daughters.

Five great-grandchildren, including two girls and three boys.


Mary Lou's legacy lives on through the family she loved, nurtured, and cared for throughout her life. She will be remembered for her dedication, kindness, creativity, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear.

Though she has departed from this world, her love remains in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace in the presence of our Lord.
