IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael Wayne
Fowler
December 23, 1953 – September 7, 2025
Michael Wayne Fowler, a cherished husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, finished his fight on earth on September 7, 2025, in Jonesboro, AR. Born on December 23, 1953, in Evansville, IN, to George and Thelma Fowler, Michael's journey through life was marked by steadfast love, unwavering faith, and a generous spirit. He was the strongest man that beat cancer twice.
Michael's life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of family bonds. He and his beloved wife, Cherry Fowler, were on the cusp of celebrating their 51st wedding anniversary on October 26, 2025. Together, they built a life filled with joy and laughter, welcoming their children Marty Fowler, Tony Fowler (Laura), and twin daughters Tanya Finley (Justin) and Tonya Wing (Jesse). Michael's role as a brother was equally important, and he is survived by Jerry Fowler (Beverly), Steve Fowler (Shirley), David Fowler, Brenda McGinnis (Harold), Debbie Alsup (Steve), Kathy Stewart, Willard Passmore (Un), Carryon Bettis, David Passmore (Rhonda), Richard Passmore (Donna), and Brenda Mathews. The legacy of his love and guidance will live on through his cherished grandchildren, Katelyn McCandless (Dakota), Paige Wing, Alex Finley, Lily Fowler, Jordan Finley, Jace Wing, Preston Finley, and Ethan Wing, as well as his adored great-grandchildren, Copelynn McCandless, Ellie May Clampit, and Raylan Clampit. He loved all of his nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, George and Thelma Fowler; his brothers, Tim "T.J." Fowler, Bill Passmore, Michael Mathews, and Tom Stewart. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he carried their memories with him every day.
Professionally, Michael dedicated many years to the open road as a truck driver, known to his friends on the CB radio as "Hill Climber." His work was more than a job; it was a reflection of his commitment to providing for his family. Beyond his professional life, Michael was washed in the Blood by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His love for his family was boundless, and he lived by the principle that family was everything. Michael's generous nature meant that he was always ready to help others, often giving until he had nothing left.
In every aspect of life, Michael was the person everyone could depend on. Whether it was fixing something that was broken or offering a helping hand, he was the go-to person in any situation. His hobbies included fishing, which was more than a pastime; it was a way to connect with nature and the people he loved. Michael was a marksman and enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren how to shoot. He especially took pride in educating his grandsons in the art of target practice.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 9, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Stacy Noel and his staff for all the wonderful care throughout the years.
