Obituary

Our sweet and precious mom, Pansy Vines, flew to Heaven Monday, August 16, 2021, at Belle Meade Vassar House, Paragould, Arkansas.

She was truly an Angel, and a wonderful Christian lady, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great, great grandmother.

Pansy loved her LORD and Savior, Christ Jesus, her families, her church families, friends and reading her Holy Bible .

Pansy was born on January 29, 1924, at Delaplaine, AR to her parents, Joseph and Maude Varvil.  She was baptized in Cache River at Evening Star in 1939, age 15.  Life was hard during the Great Depression, however, Pansy attended and graduated Delaplaine High School in 1942.   In 1943, Pansy married the love of her life, Paul Vines.  Pansy worked and supported the WWII war effort at the Walnut Ridge Air Base, Arkansas.

Pansy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Paul Vines, her parents, Joseph Varvil, Maude Varvil Smith, and Tom Smith; one sister, Oleta Cambell; 8 brothers, Reuben, Howard, and Jude Varvil, Oatis, TA, Troy, Voy, and Billy Joe Smith; sisters-in-law, Odean Varvil, Sudie (Tooter) Varvil, Jean Varvil, Deloris Smith, and Margie Robb.

Pansy is survived by her daughter, Jodene Vines Ellis; son-in-law, Mike Ellis; sons, Teddy Joe Vines and Rudy Vines; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Vines;  four grandchildren, Paige Malin, Melissa Baker, Ginger Bales, and Tiffany Young; eight great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Josie Vines, Mary Smith and Imogene Brown; eleven nieces and three nephews.

Our families were truly blessed with our sweet and precious Matriarch for 97 years. She was always known as Mom and MaMaw.  She enjoyed her country life as a farmer, and their 21 retired years at their Lake Norfork home, fishing and playing cards.  She enjoyed and loved people, anyone that knew her would agree.  She always had a beautiful smile to share, along with a hug and kiss.

Pansy was a longtime follower of Christ Jesus, a member of Commissary Church of Christ and loved her church families.  The last few months her favorite saying is "Come Jesus, Come".

The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to Belle Meade Vassar House RNs and CNAs  for their loving care of Pansy.

A family service at Phillips Funeral Home will be on Thursday, 19 August  2021,  with Brother Evan Smith officiating.  A graveside service will be at approximately 1:00 p.m. at Greene County Memorial Gardens, Paragould, Arkansas.  All attendees must abide by the current CDC Covid Guidelines, requiring masking at all times with social distancing.
