IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paul Dean
Hackworth
April 7, 1945 – January 6, 2022
TO BE ABSENT FROM THE BODY IS TO BE PRESENT WITH THE LORD.
On January 6th, 2022, Paul Dean Hackworth, 76, went to heaven.
He was born on April 7th, 1945, to the late Floyd and Delilah Mae Hackworth in Paragould, Arkansas.
Preceding him in death were his parents, 5 brothers; Elmo, Darrel, Amos, Winford (Wink) and Doyle; 6 sisters; Dorothy, Cleo, Sharon, Ellere, Barbera, and Gertie.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Hackworth, 2 daughters and a son in law: Angela (Angie) and Chuck Rice, and Cindy Hackworth, and two grandchildren; Tyler and Sierra Rice.
Paul was born in Arkansas, but in 1963 he and his dad drove to California to visit family. He ended up staying in California where he met and married Linda Jones Hackworth in 1965 and were later blessed with 2 daughters. (Angela & Cindy)
Paul worked as a mechanic all of his working years and retired from the Long Shore Union.
He was an amazing husband and father and worked hard to provide for our family.
He loved his family, not only us, but every single one of you, family and friends.
He faced many health problems with strength, courage, and an amazing will.
There was nothing he couldn't do and that included escaping very dire moments in his health. Not surprising, because he could do anything he put his mind to.
He added on to our house not only once, but twice. He had many skills and hobbies. He added on a patio to our neighbors house, poured concrete for new sidewalks and driveways to our home and the neighbors, built brick planters and bbq areas, dug a hole to put a pool in our backyard, I mean he could do practically anything.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, loved to go shooting, load bullets, loved to ride motorcycles, loved to ride 4 wheelers on our property in the desert and we always brought a truck full of our friends, he leveled hillsides to create flat ground so we could put a trailer on it and later added on to that, he loved tractors, bulldozers, catching rattlesnakes, horned toads, lizards, you name it, if it moved, he would catch it BUT he always returned it to where he found it. He taught Cindy and I to do all the things he loved and we had a great childhood. Our friends included!
We used to laugh and say he really wanted "boys" because we did all the rough and rugged stuff.
He was a fun loving, outdoors, old school values kind of guy. He was a man of his word and a great promise keeper. A handshake and on your "word" was better than a written contract kind of guy.
Becoming a Grandfather was one of his biggest joys! He was happiest spending time with Tyler and Sierra. Teaching them to fish was his favorite thing to do. We spent many hours alongside of lakes with our poles in the water.
He certainly left us with many amazing memories to tell in the years to come.
I made a promise to him long ago that I would make sure that his body's final resting place would be with his parents and siblings family plot in the city he was born and grew up in. I know he is happy that we fulfilled that promise.
His passing leaves a huge void in our family and he will be greatly missed.
Thank you for praying for my mom, Cindy, and I during this time.
