Peggy Sue (Brogdon) Cothren, 78, of Paragould, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2022. She was born February 5, 1944, in Paragould, to Leonard and Violet Brogdon. Peggy became a Christian in July of 1962 and was a member of 7th and Mueller Church of Christ since 1965. At church she was very active, helping on the Joy Bus and teaching at Vacation Bible School. Peggy married the love of her life, Dillman Cothren, on December 21, 1963, after 3 years of dating. Peggy was thoughtful toward others. She showed this by sending out cards for all occasions to let others know she was thinking of them. As a preschool teacher at PALS she touched many young lives. Peggy helped Dillman at Cothren's Tax Service for 42 years and she was a real estate agent for Time Realty. For years, she and Dillman enjoyed going to Jupiter, Florida, to cheer on the Cardinals during spring training and going to St. Louis for Cardinal games with dear friends, Leon and Freda Carter. Trips to Branson with friends and family were looked forward to with great joy. Peggy will be dearly missed by family and friends, she was loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Ed and Ada Cox, Clyde and Edna Garner; brother, Charles Brogdon; niece, Amy Baker; and nephew, Christopher Ryan.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Dillman Cothren; son, Chad Cothren of Harrisburg, AR; daughter, Kristi May of Anna, TX; brother, Frank Brogdon; sisters, Jackie Mathis, Vickie Craig; grandchildren, Tyrus May (Hope), Terran May (Violet), Sydney May, Spencer May; and many loved nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 2, from 1:30 p.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Larry McFadden officiating. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery.
Tyrus May, Terran May, Spencer May, Barry Smoker, Paul Kuntze, and Jamey McFadden will serve as pallbearers, Sydney May will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
