IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Penelope "Penny" Faith
Dearin
December 26, 1965 – April 1, 2025
Penelope Faith Dearin, known affectionately to her friends and family as Penny, passed away on April 1, 2025, at the age of 59 in Memphis, Tennessee. Born on December 26, 1965, in Dickson, Tennessee, Penny was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her. She was a daughter, a mother, a sister, and a friend whose vibrant spirit and warm heart will be deeply missed.
Penny is survived by her loving parents, Beverly and Stanley Meredith and Lowell Waymen Bowden. Penny's nurturing nature was evident from a young age, and she carried that caring disposition throughout her entire life. She was the embodiment of joy for her son, Mason Dearin, whom she adored more than anything in the world. Her devotion to Mason was unparalleled, and the bond they shared was what kept her fighting against her declining health.
Penny's siblings, Teresa Suzanne Claybrook, Regina Netherton, Cynthia Dawn Walker, Deborah June LeMoine, and Wendy Denise Rogers and many nieces and nephews will remember her as a wonderful, funny, and sometimes stubborn sister whose laughter could light up any room. She also held dear the memories of her brothers, Thomas Hickerson and Forest Hickerson, Jr., her sister, Cathy Marie Hickerson, and biological father, Forest Robert Hickerson, Sr., who preceded her in death. Penny also leaves behind the father of her son, Lindy Ted Dearin who continued to see her even after their divorce. Penny's family was her foundation, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Professionally, Penny was known as a great beautician who brought out the beauty in every individual she worked with. Her clients often became her friends, as she touched lives not only through her skills but also through her compassionate nature.
Her love extended beyond people to all creatures, big and small. An avid animal lover, Penny found joy in the company of animals and was known to care for any that crossed her path. Her compassionate spirit was a comfort to both humans and animals alike. She leaves behind her beloved dog, Bobo, who never left her side.
The legacy Penny leaves behind is one of love, laughter, and the importance of family. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be remembered as a loving mother, a cherished daughter, a beloved sister, and a loyal friend. Her life was a testament to the beauty and strength of the human spirit.
A gathering for family and friends will be May 10, from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Reynolds Park, Pavilion 2.
