Obituary

Roy Eugene Ballew, Jr., passed away on August 7, 2026, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, at the age of 55. Born on August 21, 1970, in Granite City, Illinois, Roy’s journey through life was marked by a generous spirit, unwavering dedication to his work and family, and a colorful array of interests that brought joy both to himself and those fortunate enough to share in them.

Roy’s professional life was defined by his commitment and enthusiasm for driving a semi-truck. He took great pride in his work and genuinely loved his job, cultivating friendships and experiences along the highways that shaped his career.

For Roy, life was about more than just work. A man of many interests, he relished time spent outdoors fishing and found solace in a round of golf or a stretch at the bowling lanes. He was often at George Ray’s drag strip, where he enjoyed the thrill of watching the races. His fondness for working on cars was well known.

Music was another constant in Roy’s life; he had a profound enjoyment of classic rock, with Iron Maiden holding a special place as his favorite band.

Roy was a loving and involved father, cherishing moments spent playing video games with his children. These shared experiences created lasting memories and reflected his playful, devoted nature. Anyone who knew Roy would remember him as a caring, giving, and loving person who would give the shirt off his back to help another. His kindness and selflessness became a guiding example for those he held dear.

Roy’s legacy lives on in his devoted family. He leaves behind his beloved children, Danielle Ballew (Jacob Gibson), Tailyer Ballew (Christopher Hufty), Tarren Ballew (Dailyn Ballew), and Robert Louvier (Taylor Boyd); his mother, Carrie Machon; his brother, Shannon Machon; his sister, Tina Boggs; and his cherished granddaughter, Amelia Gibson.

He is preceded in death by his father, Roy Ballew, Sr.; his step-father, Clay Machon; his ex-mother-in-law, Cindy Gaines; his brother, John Ballew; his friend, Robert Malott; and his brother-in-law, Blake Boggs.
