IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sadie May
Toler
October 3, 1930 – January 4, 2025
Sadie May Toler passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on October 3, 1930, Sadie's life was a tapestry of dedication, service, and joy that touched the hearts of all who knew her.
A lifelong member of the Pine Knott Church of Christ, Sadie's faith was the cornerstone of her existence. Her commitment to her church community was unwavering, and her devotion was evident in her actions and the gentle way she lived her life, serving as a beacon of light and inspiration to her fellow congregants.
Sadie's remarkable work ethic were the driving forces behind the success of Toler's Grocery, a staple in the Finch community. For over five decades, she and her husband, Dink, owned and operated the store with a blend of warmth and savvy that turned first-time visitors into lifelong customers. Her natural ability as a salesperson was legendary; she could sell anything with a smile and a story, making each transaction feel like a visit between friends.
Before her years as a beloved grocer, Sadie honed her skills in the local shoe and shirt factories. Her early experiences in the workforce showcased her dexterity and attention to detail, qualities that would serve her well in all her future endeavors. Sadie was an incredibly talented seamstress, a craft she pursued with passion and precision.
Music filled Sadie's soul, and her alto voice was a beloved addition to many a song. Her passion for singing was matched only by her love for the St. Louis Cardinals, whose games she followed with unwavering enthusiasm.
Sadie was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Susan Treadway; husband, William "Dink" Toler; brother, Lawrence Treadway; sisters, Nellie Swindle, Norma Treadway, Estelle Patterson, Carrie Reed, Ellen Vick; and sons-in-law, Donald Hancock and Allan French.
Survivors include her children, Pat Norman, Farron Toler (Tammy), Nelda French; grandchildren, Larry Hancock, David Hancock, Kaci Burns, Jake Coe (Sarah Beth), Will Toler; great-grandchildren, Caroline Brown (Kyle), Louie Burks, Brody Burks, Diezil Hancock, Griffin Hancock, Lenox Burns, Jenny Beth Coe; and great-great-grandchildren, Rhett Allan Brown and Dayton Ray Hancock.
