Shelbia "Joann" Houston, passed away on August 19, 2025. She was born May 4, 1959, to Thelbert Newborn and Shelbia Bailey. Joann was an avid football fan and loved cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs. She enjoyed baking with her grandchildren and loved spending time with her family. Joann enjoyed learning about the Native American heritage and history.

Joann was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of 38 years, William Houston; son, David Houston (Brittany); brother, Kevin Newborn(Linda); sister, Penny Elder (Larry); and grandchildren, Brayden Houston, Audrey Houston, and Cameron Houston; multiple nieces and nephews.
