Shelley Lynnette Gist, a cherished soul and a beacon of warmth, passed away on January 14, 2025, at the age of 51. Born on February 11, 1973, in the same town where she would live her entire life, Shelley's presence was a constant source of joy to all who knew her.

With a career rooted in care and compassion, Shelley devoted many years of her life to serving others at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. Her unwavering commitment and genuine kindness left an indelible mark on both her colleagues and the countless lives she touched through her work.

Beyond her professional and community engagements, Shelley was an ardent lover of literature. Her love for reading was matched by her passion for her feline companions. Shelley was a devoted cat mom to Daisy, Tweekers, Socks, and Butters, whose antics and affection brought her immeasurable happiness.

Shelley was preceded in death by her parents, Wendell and Sharon Gist; grandparents, Hiram and Mae Arlene Nelson and Darrell and Lela Hawkins; aunts and uncles, Shawn Nelson, Shannon West, Gary Nelson, and Larry Nelson.

Survivors include her fiancée, Lee Owen; uncles and aunts, Terry Nelson, Barry Nelson, Shelia Brogdon, Sherry McDaniel, and Mary Stevens; and a host of extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 21, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home.  A celebration of Shelley's life will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Packy Magel officiating.
