Obituary

Sudie Virginia Pruett, a cherished soul whose life journey began on November 24, 1929, in Paragould, Arkansas, concluded her earthly chapter in the same loving community on June 20, 2025. Her presence, a beacon of strength and joy, will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Sudie's early years in Paragould laid the foundation for a life characterized by determination and trailblazing achievements. A master airplane mechanic by trade, she soared through glass ceilings, becoming the first female supervisor at Northup Grauman. Her skilled hands and sharp intellect left an indelible mark on the aviation industry, inspiring countless women to pursue their dreams in fields once dominated by men.

Her work ethic was matched only by her devout Christian faith. As a longtime member of the 3rd Avenue Baptist Church, Sudie's spirit was nourished by the fellowship and teachings that guided her through life's highs and lows. Her faith was a testament to her character, shining through her every action and word.

Sudie's interests were rich and varied. Her grandchildren would gather around, eyes wide with anticipation, as she launched into one of her signature yodels, filling the room with laughter and song. Her unique homespun humor was a source of endless entertainment. While Sudie had a passion for travel, she firmly believed that the journey was just as important as the destination. She relished the opportunity to explore new places from the comfort of a car, taking in the sights and sounds at her own pace, always ready to embark on the next adventure.  She took many playful jabs at her daughter Trina's driving during their cherished road trips.

Craftiness was another of Sudie's many talents. Her hands were skilled in the arts of quilting, hat-making, and the creation of Amish dolls. Each stitch and fold were a labor of love.

Sudie was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ethel Prince; husband, Leonard Pruett; daughter, Sandra Case; great-great-grandson, Tristan Sims; and siblings, Maurris Prince, Elsie Wood, and Clarence Prince, Jr.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Trina and James Gossett and Yvonne and Bob Everett; grandchildren, Virginia Jansa of Lanesville, Indiana, Paula Wolfe of New Llano, Louisiana, Jeannie King of Paragould, Cassandra Delcambre of Mentor OTL, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Jennifer Landers, Anthony Wolfe, Meagan Garing, Amanda Gearin, Stephanie Wood, Ryan Wolfe, Jordyn Mills, Jaymee Jansa, and Alice Delcambre; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday, June 22, from 2:00 p.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home.  The funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Gerrish officiating.  Burial will follow at New Friendship Cemetery.

Bob Everett, Ryan Wolfe, Anthony Wolfe, Joey Wood, Robert Case, and Stan Mize will serve as pallbearers. James Gossett, Jim Jansa, and Terry Wood will serve as honorary pallbearers.
