Thelma Faye Dowdy, 77, of Paragould, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021.  She was born July 19, 1944, in Monette, Arkansas, to Robert and Mary Folkes.  Thelma was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church.  Taking care of family was the joy of Thelma's life.  She enjoyed every moment with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Rebecca Davis; five brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, J.D. Dowdy; sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Teresa Dowdy, Jimmy and Amy Dowdy; daughters and son-in-law, Sheila and Anthony McLaughlin, and Tammy Dowdy; sister, Anna Martin; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday, October 17, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at New Friendship Baptist Church.  The funeral service under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home will begin at 2:00 p.m. at New Friendship Baptist Church with Conway Safirt officiating.  Burial will follow at New Friendship Cemetery.
