Tim "Elrod" McGowan, 61, of Paragould went to be with his Heavenly Father on October 9, 2014. He was born on September 16, 1953 to the late Alton and Maudean McGowan. Tim retired from Emerson Electric after 37 years of service. He was known around town as Elrod the Magician and balloon artist. Tim was a member of East Side Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Preceding him in death were his parents.Tim is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Sue; two sons and daughters in law, Matt and Chandra McGowan, and Mark and MySan McGowan; five grandchildren, Abigail, Elliot, Andrew, Elizabeth, and Paxton McGowan; one sister, Karen McBride; one brother in law and sister in law, John and Cathy Reeves; two nephews, Stacey (Angie) McBride, and Adam (Nicki) Reeves; two nieces, Holley Reeves and Ragon (Jon) Weatherford; and a host of other family and friends.The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday, October 10, 2014 at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at East Side Baptist Church, 529 East Court Street, with Doug Compton officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.Jason Weatherford, Aaron Thompson, Kevin Mann, Jason Veal, Trey Cook, Brad Bobo, Charles Nelson, and Jason Linam will be serving as pallbearers.
