Troy Cleghorn, of Paragould, Arkansas, passed away on September 17, 2026, in Paragould at the age of 82. He was born on February 16, 1944, in Monette, Arkansas.
Troy was an Army veteran who served in Germany during the Vietnam War era. He carried with him a warm, outgoing spirit that made him a true people person. Over the years, he worked at Foremost Dairy and then at Monroe until his retirement. Even after retiring, he stayed active by delivering parts for O'Reilly Auto Parts, a job that suited him well. He enjoyed being out among people and was known to appreciate the free coffee he could drink at the car shops along his route.
He found great happiness in simple pleasures and in the things he loved most. He enjoyed flowers and spent many hours working in his flower gardens, taking special pride in his irises. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Troy is survived by his children, Robin Poynter, Tracy Mothershed (Winston), and Scott Cleghorn (Misti); his grandchildren, Cody Mothershed (Falisha), Meagan Mothershed, and Mollie Mothershed (Dawlton Hall); and his great-grandchildren, Landree and Ryker. He is also survived by his brothers, JC Cleghorn and David Cleghorn; and by his sisters, Doris Despain and Ruby Russell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Edith Cleghorn; his wife, June Cleghorn; his brothers, Muriel Cleghorn, Russell Cleghorn, Jerry Don Cleghorn, and Shelby Cleghorn; and his twin brother, Roy Cleghorn.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow at Linwood Cemetery.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Belle Meade for the wonderful care Troy received in spite of him being a rambunctious resident. Your kindness and care meant so much.
