Virgil Wayne Metz, 62, of Jonesboro, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023. He was born May 9, 1960, in Fresno, California, to Darrel Sr. and Dorothy Metz. Virgil loved working as a mechanic. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Virgil would do anything for his family. He also enjoyed fishing and watching WWE wrestling.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Dooger Hall; brothers, Charles Metz, Darrel Metz, Jr. and Terry Metz; sisters, Lura Metz, and Mary Ann Metz; and niece Jeannett Metz.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Metz; sons, Derrick Metz, Shane Metz, Randy Talburt and fiancé Patti Hulsey; daughter, Justice Berry; sister Sherry Metz; grandchildren, Nicole Simpson, Trey Talburt, Brendon Metz, Kayla Metz, Kendall Talburt, Cole Talburt, Jaxton Talburt, Andrew Hulsey, Gavin Metz, and Phoebe Metz; great-grandchildren, Lilly Metz, Jonathon Metz, and Jayda Talburt.

The family will receive friends Monday, January 30, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. Graveside burial to follow at Brown's Chapel with Terry Vaughn officiating.

Brendon Metz, John Moslander, Kenny Moore, Randy Talburt, Tim Moslander, and Derrick Metz will serve as pallbearers.

Gary Ellis, Trey Talburt, and Gavin Metz will serve as honorary pallbearers.
