Vondia Pitcher - January 15, 2013 Vondia Pitcher - January 15, 2013 Vondia Pitcher, 83 of Paragould, passed away January 15, 2013 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. He was born April 2, 1929 in Delaplaine, Arkansas to the late Cleve and Annie Pitcher.He was farmer and business owner, a faithful member and song leader of the Oak Grove Church of Christ, and he loved his family dearly.Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Emma Pitcher; one son, Larry Pitcher; five brothers, Wilburn, Leorn, Ben, Glen, and Cleo Pitcher; one sister, Hazel Summers.His survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Andrea Pitcher and Vondia Glen and Lavada Pitcher; one daughter and son-in-law, Patty and David Hyde; two brothers, Frank and Norman Pitcher; one sister, Clara Mae Stevens; twelve grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.The family will receive friends Thursday, January 17 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home with Dick Blackford and Tommy Pitcher officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens.Serving as Pallbearers will be Kaleb Pitcher, Tommy Lee Pitcher, Jody Pitcher, Cody Pitcher, Brandon Kemp, and Ryan Brewer. Honorary Pallbearers will include Will Sawyer and Eldon Wyatt. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. So very sorry to hear of Mr. Pitcher passing. Even though it was years ago, I cherish the memory of him leading us in song. My favorite to hear him sing was, Where could I go but to the Lord. A wonderful man who's kindness touched so many. I'm so glad that our paths in life crossed. I'm sure that heaven has gained another wonderful Angel.Coy Rollins I want to express my sorrow at this time to all the family. I know what you are all going through. I remember Mr. Pitcher for a lot of things and one is those good poems he could write. I have found much comfort in these scriptures and hope you do also.
