IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Winston
Hollis
March 10, 1950 – March 5, 2025
Carlos Winston Hollis, Jr., known as Winston, went to be with the Lord on March 5, 2025, in his hometown of Paragould, Arkansas, just five days before his 75th birthday. Born on March 10, 1950, to Carlos Winston and Wava Jeanne Hollis in the same close-knit community, Winston's life was a testament to the enduring values of hard work, dedication to family, and the joy of simple pleasures.
Winston discovered his passion for carpentry at a young age, working alongside his father and quickly becoming a talented craftsman in his own right. His skillful hands and keen eye for detail led him to a fulfilling career, where he built not just houses, but homes filled with love and memories. Winston took great pride in his work, and his legacy can be seen in the sturdy frames and welcoming porches that dot the neighborhoods of Paragould.
A man of many interests, Winston was well-known and well-loved within his community. His sociable nature found him in the company of good friends every Thursday night, where he enjoyed the camaraderie and friendly competition of a card game. He had a profound appreciation for classic cars, dedicating time to car shows and the restoration of old cars. His enthusiasm for this hobby was infectious, and he loved nothing more than sharing his latest projects.
Above all, Winston cherished his family. A devoted husband, loving dad, doting poppy, and friend to many he found his greatest joy in the time spent with his loved ones. His grandchildren, who held a special place in his heart, will carry forward the lessons he taught through his actions: the importance of integrity and the value of a day's work.
Winston was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carletta Carr.
Winston is survived by his wife of 31 years, Peggy Hollis; one son, Michael Hollis (Jennifer) of Paragould; three daughters, Amy Brown of Georgia, Sheri Lenderman (Shannon) of Jonesboro, and Debbie Witcher (Stacy) of Paragould; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Cindy Brummett (Richard).
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 8, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. A celebration of Winston's life will begin at noon on Saturday with Aaron Neugebauer officiating.
