Alvin Leach, 71, of Paragould, passed away Friday, September 4, 2020. He was born June 8, 1949, in Success, Arkansas, to Melvin Thurman and Alline Mae Leach. Alvin taught math at Rector High School from 1972 to 1977. He was formerly an Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Director of Institutional Research and Assessments at Crowley’s Ridge College. Most recently, Alvin was the minister at Newton Street Church of Christ after preaching at Arbyrd Church of Christ for 18 years and 3 congregations in Kansas for 24 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother in law, Roger Robinson.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Carolyn Leach of the home; daughters, Renee Murphy of Kennett, and Gayla Leach of Paragould; sister, Melvaline Robinson (Roger); grandchildren, Laura Mae Murphy, MaKayla Murphy, Blake Murphy, and Summer Murphy; and great grandchild, Carson Hatwig.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 9, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Art Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Richwoods Cemetery in Corning.
