Bertie Lou (Howard) Forbs

Bertie Lou Forbs, 90, of Marmaduke, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center with her family by her side. 

Bert was born November 26, 1931, in Red Onion, Missouri, to Dela and David Howard.  Bert loved her family and grandkids and she always loved helping others.  She was a longtime worker at Snack Pak and then was a homemaker.  She loved to work in the garden and can vegetables.  She worked in the cotton fields growing up, hand picking cotton.  Bert loved to dance, sing gospel songs, and play music especially when she got to play their big old bull bass.

Bert married Leon Forbs on October 5, 1946.  They were blessed with 6 children; one girl and five boys.

Bert was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leon Claude Forbs; daughter, Carol Pearson; son, Rickie Lee Forbs; two daughters-in-law, Madeline Forbs and Jeannette Forbs; and three grandsons, Ben Forbs, Colby Lee Forbs and Bruce Forbs, Jr.

Survivors include her children, Donnie and Glenda Forbs of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Bruce and Brenda Forbs of Rogersville, Alabama, Roger and Sharon Forbs of Marmaduke, Arkansas, and Allen Forbs of Holcomb, Missouri; 24 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and many, many other family and friends.

Bert was a big hearted Christian Lady who loved to worship the Lord every day and to help spread His word.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 28, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 29, at Phillips Funeral Home with Brother Kim Bridges officiating.  Burial will follow at Mountain Home Cemetery.
