Brenda Sue Shipman, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated foster parent, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2023. Born on December 10, 1947, to Ralph and Martha Sharp, Brenda was a beacon of love and compassion throughout her life, touching the hearts of everyone she met.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Martha Sharp; her husband, Jerry Shipman; and her daughters, Tonya Yeargin and Jeri Sue Banks. She is survived by her sons, Todd Shipman, Tracy Shipman, Luis Thigpin, and Cameron Shipman; her daughters, Sonia Thigpen, Emily Shipman, Maria Trujllo, Lily Shipman, and Candace Shipman; her brother, Fred Laverdure; her sisters, Becky Laverdure, Teresa Gibson, Diannia Bannegas, and Donna Kueneman; her grandchildren, Adrian Banks, Ashley (Banks) Torres, Hali Shipman, Shana Williams, Allen Shipman, Wesley Shipman, Stormie Moore, Kaileb Shipman, Cameron Shipman, and Candace Shipman; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Brenda was a devoted wife and mother, who dedicated her life to the well-being of her family and those in need. She and her late husband, Jerry, opened their home to over 325 foster children throughout their marriage, providing a safe and nurturing environment for each child who entered their lives. Brenda's selflessness was evident in her constant efforts to put others first, always finding ways to make a difference in the lives of those around her.
Brenda's love for her family was boundless, and she took great pride in the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her presence at family gatherings was always a source of joy and laughter, and her memory will live on through the countless stories shared by those who knew her best. Her unwavering support and guidance will be deeply missed by her loved ones, but her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
In addition to her passion for helping others, Brenda had a wide range of interests that brought joy to her life. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, creating cherished memories that will be treasured by all who knew her.
