Daniel Ashley Hester

Daniel Ashley Hester, 80, finished his earthly journey on January 8, 2022. He was born August 13, 1941, in Paragould, AR., to Homer and Magaret (Jameson) Hester. Dan was a retired military officer and had served in Vietnam. He loved all things military and historical. He was the genealogist for his family, had researched his ancestors during all his adult years, and was willing to share his findings with anyone who asked. He had several college degrees, including an MBA and Specialist in Community College Teaching from Arkansas State University. He taught business classes at ASU and at Mississippi County Community College. He was a charter member of the Greene County Historical Society. He had been a chairman of the county equalization board, had served as chairman of the county election commission, and served on the Finch Cemetery Committee and been president of it.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bill Hester and Bob Hester.
Survivors include his wife, Sonya; son, Colin (Brenda); two sisters, Clara Harvey (Arthur), Wanda Davidson; six grandchildren, Beatrice, Magdalen, Jameson, Eleanor, Theodore, and Vinton; and two great-grandchildren, Anneliese and Silas.
A graveside service under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home will be held on Thursday, January 13, at 2:00 p.m. at Finch Cemetery.
