Doyle Wayne Wood

Doyle Wayne Wood, of Thayer, MO, was born to E. L. and Mildred Wood on October 8, 1936, in Paragould, AR, and departed this life on April 12, 2022, at West Plains, MO, at the age of 85.

Doyle was united in marriage on August 18, 1967, to Reba Wayland.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Kimberly Todd of Thayer, MO; two grandchildren, Taylor Schick of Mountain Home, AR, Keegan Todd of Mammoth Springs, AR; siblings, Charles Wood (Deronda) of Paragould, AR, Bill Wood (Pearline) of Paragould, AR, Bonnie Robinson (Garland) of Walcott, AR, Jim Wood (Shelia) of Overland Park, KS; brother-in-law, Jack Stewart of Walcott, AR; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carolyn Stewart; and sister-in-law, Helen Wood.

Doyle was in education all of his life serving as a teacher, coach, principal, and superintendent for 39 years. He was an avid reader and enjoyed sports. He was a member of the Church of Christ, preached at several congregations, and served as an elder at the Thayer Church of Christ for many years.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 15, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Raymond Lasley officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens.

David Wood, Robert Wood, James Robinson, Bob Ball, Jack Stewart, and Lanny Stewart will serve as pallbearers.

Lasting memorials may be made to The Children’s Home of Paragould and Crowley’s Ridge Academy.
