Obituary

Eddie G. Carner, 74, of Paragould, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2022. He was born in Blytheville, AR, on March 9, 1948, to Holton and Virginia Carner. Eddie served Honorably in the Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He loved road trips including trips to the Grand Canyon and to see family in Texas and Arizona. At a young age, he was a great pitcher for the Blytheville Chickasaws and was a passionate lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan. 
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Holton and Virginia Carner; brother, Phil Carner; sisters, Jean Underwood, Ellen Self; and Stephanie Shields' mother, Denise Stotz.
Survivors include his son, Shane Carner and his wife, Raqual; Shane's previous wife, Carolina Carner of Austin, TX; Shane's mother, Teresa Cortez; daughter, Stephanie Shields and her husband, Michael of Queen Creek, AZ; grandchildren, Holton, Hayden, Hudson, and Olivia and his nieces.
A celebration of life with military honors will be held on Sunday, June 12, at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Ron Pickney officiating. 
Lasting memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
