Eva Raye McClelland, 82, of Paragould, passed away with her family by her side on Monday, March 27, 2023. She was born August 21, 1940, to James and Neval Hollis. Eva enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking. She passed her art of canning down to her grandchildren. She worked as a study hall teacher and secretary at Oak Grove where she touched many of kids’ lives and worked as an office clerk at the Sale Barn. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and was voted the best mother-in-law several times. Eva was always willing to help others in need, loved spending time with her family, and above all, she loved the Lord, and was a longtime member of Fairview Baptist Church.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold McClelland; son, Wayne McClelland; granddaughters, Kinsee McClelland, Tiffany, McClelland; brothers, Bob, J. D., Bill, and Alfred Hollis, J. L. Rhoades; and sisters, Maxine Shaw and Francis Housley.
Survivors include her sons, Phillip (Michi) of Paragould, Rodney (Lora) McClelland of Paragould, Bobby (Renea) McClelland of Paragould, Dale (Sherry) McClelland of Cardwell; brother, David Hollis; sisters, Neva (W. T.) Shewmaker; bonus sister, Loree Cross; grandchildren, Adam (Tiffany), Nicholas (Elizabeth), Mike (Jamie), Nathan (Phalycia), Jeremy (Kimberly), Jason (Amber), Chase (Lindsay), and Katie; bonus grandchildren, Karie and Kale; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Isaac, Wyatt, Erica, Cheyenne, Waylon, Eli, Levi, and Lainey; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 30, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Friday, March 31, at 10:00 a.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Dennis Strope officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery.
Eva’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Ritchard Zolman, Jerry Cross, Danny Cross, Tommy Cross, and Timmy Cross.
