Fayrene Howard Kieffner, 89, of Paragould, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2023. She was born February 12, 1934, in Paragould, to Brody and Lillian Howard. Fayrene worked for the USDA for 25 years as a loan processor. Gardening and baking were favorite pastimes of Fayrene’s. Her friends and neighbors gave her the nickname “Cheesecake Fairy” thanks to all of her wonderful cheesecakes and baked goods. She was a lifelong member of Mountain Home Church of Christ. In her later years, she enjoyed working 10 years at Crowley’s Ridge College before moving to Hot Springs to help with her great-grandchildren.
Fayrene was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dr. Michael Kieffner; granddaughter-in-law, Charlotte Kieffner; sisters, Sherry Howard and Joy Fisher; brothers, Max Howard and Wendell Howard; and nephew, Brent Howard.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Nathan Kieffner (Amber) and Ashley Garner (Scott); great-grandchildren, Brody Kieffner, Nick Garner, Jordyn Garner, and Peyton Garner; and many nephews, nieces, extended family, and friends.
The family will receive friends Monday, November 6, from noon until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Tim Wooldridge officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Home Cemetery.
Steve Martin, Greg King, Brian Smith, Dr. William Fisher, William McGinn, and Scott Garner will serve as pallbearers. Dr. Jake McMillon, Ken Hoppe, Mike Mahannah, and Charlie Prater will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to her neighbors, William and Shanna McGinn and Linda and Alan Coates, for helping Fayrene stay in her home. Thank you to Jeanina Smith for her wonderful care and lifelong friendship. Also, thank you to Superior Senior Care for the wonderful care and love shown to Fayrene.
