Floretta Sue Howard

Floretta Sue Howard, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2023. Born on April 4, 1943, to the late Oral and Lillie Dickerson, Floretta was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Floretta was preceded in death by her parents, Oral and Lillie Dickerson; daughter, Donna Sue Meadows; brothers, Eddie and Danny Dickerson. She is survived by her son, Trevor Meadows and his wife, Tammy; daughter, Paula Johns Glover; brothers, Jim Dickerson and his wife, Kathy, and Larry Dickerson and his wife, Karen; sisters, Shirley Medows and Sandy Dickerson; grandchildren, Amber Shatley (Dustin), D. J. Johns, Tyler Johns, Autumn Meadows, Zachary Meadows, Gabriel Meadows, Travis Moon, and Gage Moon; thirteen great-grandchildren; and her special niece, Linda Gail Edman.

Throughout her life, Floretta was well-known for her arts and crafts. She had a natural talent for creating beautiful and intricate pieces that were admired by many. Her artistic abilities were not only a source of pride for her family but also a way for her to connect with others in her community. Floretta took great joy in teaching and sharing her skills with those around her, ensuring that her love for the arts would continue to be passed down through the generations.

Family was always at the heart of Floretta's world, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. She was a doting grandmother who took immense pride in her grandchildren's accomplishments and never missed an opportunity to celebrate their successes. Her love for her family extended beyond her immediate relatives, as she welcomed friends and neighbors into her home with open arms, always making them feel a part of the family.

In her later years, Floretta discovered a passion for shopping on computers. This new interest allowed her to stay connected with the world and explore new hobbies and interests. She enjoyed the convenience of browsing online stores and discovering unique items to add to her ever-growing collection of treasures. This hobby not only brought her joy but also provided her with a sense of connection to the world outside her home.

Floretta's unwavering love and devotion to her family will be her lasting legacy. Her kindness, generosity, and laughter brought light to the lives of all who knew her. She will be remembered as a strong and inspiring woman who faced life's challenges with grace and resilience.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 17, from 2:00 p.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Aric Bokker officiating. Burial will be at Cardwell Cemetery at a later date.
