George Max Robb, 86, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2020. He was born December 27, 1933, to Brodie and Lucille Robb of Stanford. George spent 4 years active duty in the Army and 16 years as a helicopter pilot in the Army National Guard of Little Rock. He was a Major when he retired. In 1963, he taught school and coached at Stanford. George continued coaching basketball after he moved to Paragould School District in 1971. To many people, he was known as Coach. He was very active in the Center Hill Church of Christ where he had served as a deacon and treasurer. He was baptized on August 6, 1998.
George was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Glenda Robb; daughters and son in law, Kim Robb, Robin and Phillip Yates all of Paragould; grandchildren, Danny Jackson, Jr., Madison Yates Ezell, David Jackson, Caleb “Rowdy” Yates; and great-grandchildren, Mia Meadows and Rowan Yates.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 12, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Thursday, February 13, at 10:00 a.m. in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home with Michael Cox, Harry Branch, and David Deffenbaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Croft Cemetery.
Major McDaniel, Terry Sanders, Keith White, Lance Johns, W. T. Shewmaker, and Tony Cable will serve as pallbearers.
