Jerry Gatlin Obituary

Jerry Jack Gatlin, 86, of Paragould died Sunday, January 6, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Jerry had several careers in his lifetime, his favorites being an auto mechanic in the family business, chief deputy for the Greene County Sherriff's Office, and probably, his favorite, a school bus driver for Crowley's Ridge Academy.

Jerry was a charter member of the Center Hill Church of Christ where he was an instrumental part in the planning and construction of the original building where he will be eulogized. His church family meant the world to him.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Gretchen Gatlin, and one brother, Frank Gatlin.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Buchanan Gatlin of the home; two sons and daughters in law, Scott and Jamie Gatlin of Jackson, TN, Anthony and Lynn Gatlin of Corsicana, TX; one daughter and son in law, Julie and Hal Wyatt of Jonesboro; brothers and sister in law, Harvey and Mildred Gatlin of Paragould and Larry Gatlin of Paragould; one sister and brother in law, Beverly and Jerry Midyett of Memphis, TN; five grandchildren and their spouses, Jesse and Stefanie Gatlin of Jackson, TN, Brooks and Mallory Gatlin of Memphis, TN, Andrea and Kyle Fowler of Jacksonville, AR, Anna and Blake Tennison of Jonesboro and Allison Wyatt of Jonesboro; a multitude of grandpups of Corsicana, TX; nine great grandchildren, Jack and Isaac Gatlin of Jackson, TN, Betty Jane Gatlin of Memphis, TN, Katherine, Karson and Kase Fowler of Jacksonville, AR, Olivia Clark, Reid and Ryleigh Tennison of Jonesboro.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 9 from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home in Paragould with a celebration of life to follow at 1:00 p.m. with his family officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jesse Gatlin, Brooks Gatlin, Harvey Gatlin, Larry Gatlin, Hal Wyatt and Jerry Midyett.
