Jim Cunningham, 74, of Paragould, went home to Jesus on Monday, September 13, 2021. He was born September 27, 1946, to J. P. and Elaine Cunningham. Jim worked at Monroe for over 20 years and loved his job and the friends he made there. His claim to fame was being a part of the Basketball State Championship for the Paragould Bulldogs in 1963. Jim loved to debate on all subjects and enjoyed playing tennis and sports of all kinds. He served as a Sgt. in the Marine Corps and served in Vietnam. Before his discharge, he was a sharpshooter and marksman instructor. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, sibling, and friend.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Sherry Cunningham; sons, Jacob Cunningham (Becky) of Paragould, Ken Boling of Cash; daughters, Jenna Weeks of Paragould, Heather Patterson (Lance) of Little Rock; brother, Darrel Cunningham (Wilma); sisters, Donna Kingston (Randal), Sherry Acuff (David); and grandchildren, Lilly Cunningham, Aaron Weeks, Brandon Weeks, London, Story, and Norah Patterson.
A graveside service with military honors under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home will be held on Saturday, September 18, at 10:00 a.m. at Shiloh Cemetery.
