Obituary

Johnny Arnold Oost, 80, of Lafe, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023. He was born November 20, 1942, to Boswell Glenn and Clara Opal. Johnny served in the Army for 17 years and was a Vietnam Veteran.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Billy Oost and Charles Oost; and sister, Roxanne Bateman.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Debra Oost; children, Angela Gilland (Mark), Candy Bane, Tabitha Ellenburg (Keith), Theresa Oost, Michael Oost, Tony Oost (Trudie), Christopher Oost (Amy), Johnnie Lynn Bryant (Randy), Cassi Jean Oost, Jamie Layton (Crystal), Joey Layton; sister, Patricia Wilson (James); and 28 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 23, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 24, at Phillips Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Brown’s Chapel Cemetery.

Jamie Layton, Joey Layton, Brian Ellenburg, Mark Gilland, Randy Bryant, and Jamie Layton, Jr. will serve as pallbearers.
