Joseph D. Sanders, 89, of Marmaduke, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024. He was born April 8, 1935, to Alfred and Gladys Sanders. Joseph served in the United States Navy for 20 years until retiring. He worked until retiring as an Electrician years after. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and loved spending time with his family.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Katherine Sanders; and sister, Marquerite Boyd.
Survivors include his sons, Danny Sanders, (Debbie) of Paragould, John Sanders (Sheila) of Halliday, Matt Sanders (Rhonda) of Lepanto, Mark Sanders (Anna) of Oak Grove, Tom Sanders of Halliday; daughters, Karen Holloway of Marmaduke, Diane Graftenreed (Mark) of Paragould; and a very special sister-in-law, Mary Singleton. Joseph had a lot of grandchildren, a bunch more great-grandchildren, and a few more great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 30, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. On Wednesday, May 1, a procession will leave Phillips Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. for a graveside service with military honors at Clarks Chapel Cemetery with Steve Singleton officiating.
Kenny Ervin, Alex Sanders, Chris Sanders, Shawn Pinkerton, Brian Watson, Mike Sanders, and Eric Clements will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Brandon Graftenreed, Joseph Sanders II, and Tyler Sanders.
Lasting memorials may be made to the Clarks Cemetery Fund.
