Marian Alice Mangrum, 89, of Jonesboro, passed away at her home on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. She was born February 21, 1934, to Marion and Bertha Welch. Marian enjoyed working in her garden, fishing, working outside picking up sticks, and playing games, especially dominoes and “42.” She loved helping her husband, Thaddeus and taking care of him. She was a member of the Greensboro Road Church of Christ and loved spending time with her family, brothers, sisters, friends.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thaddeus Mangrum; siblings, Druscilla Bowlin Ward, Titus Welch, Talmadge Billingsley, Charles “Bully” Welch, Irwauna “Pud” Haun, Maurice Welch, and Lenora “Tooter” Smith.
Survivors include her daughters, Marian Laufrain Taylor (David) of Greenwood, AR, Urain Cook (Rick) of Bellflower, CA, Cherain Smith (Marc) of Aliso Viejo, CA; sister, June Harvill; and grandchildren, Londi (Michael) Siegler, Ian (Kelsey) Taylor, Madelyn Cook, and Ryan Cook.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 19, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Monday, March 20, at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Terry Joe Kee officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens.
David Taylor, Ryan Cook, Ian Taylor, Rick Cook, Marc Smith, Clark Welch, and Marty Harvill will serve as pallbearers.
