Melinda Kay Reeves

Melinda Kay Reeves went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 30, 2020. She was born May 15, 1964, to J. M. and Belma Cossey. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.  Melinda was a sweet, loving, and compassionate person, a blessing to all her knew her.  To her family, she was a fun loving adventurer who was always eager for the next big thing. She loved country life and spending time with her husband riding horses on their family farm at Walcott. She was extremely proud of her son Kyle and was eagerly awaiting the birth of her first grandchild, Kreighton.  Melinda was a Registered Nurse, known for her dedication and compassion for friends, family, and all patients that were under care at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. She touched many lives and was a true Angel on Earth.  As supervisor, she treated her nurses with great respect and worked hard right alongside them. She lived her life full steam ahead spreading joy and sharing her faith with those she met. She had a special concern for salvation of children at a young age and prayed daily for her family.  She was also actively involved and concerned with the rights of unborn babies. Her family and friends are heartbroken…but joyous and comforted, knowing without any doubt that Melinda is praising our Lord Jesus with her son Kevin and her daddy in Heaven.

Melinda was preceded in death by her father, J. M. Cossey; son, Kevin Terrance Reeves; father in law, L. C. Reeves; brother in law, Christopher Shane Reeves; and sister in law, Elizabeth Reeves.

Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Kim Reeves; son and daughter in law, Kyle and Kassidy Reeves; mother, Belma Cossey; mother in law, Margaret Reeves; brother and sister in law, Monty and Brigitte Cossey; sisters and brothers in law, Jannena and Randy Allred, Michi and Phillip McClelland, Kristie and Rodney Head;  a grandson expected in August, Kreighton Burke Reeves; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 3, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Wilburn Griggs, Marc Reeves, and Boyce Cate, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery.

Bobby Burrow, Jon Reeves, David Reeves, Mike McClelland, Andy Head, and Colton Cossey will serve as pallbearers.  Rick Penny, Danny Reeves, Ronnie Barrow, and all of Melinda’s beloved nieces and nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.

All attendees must provide and wear masks before entering.
