Nileane Drope

Nileane Drope, 85, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2021. She was born October 14, 1935, to Ed and Veary Rodgers. On June 25, 1955, Nileane married the love of her life, Raymond Drope and 66 years to the day, they were reunited in Heaven. Nileane was a caretaker that raised her eleven brothers and sisters and five kids. She always put herself last and family came first. Nileane loved to be around people. She was a former employee of Emerson Electric, lifelong beautician, former city council member of Marmaduke, and former Mayor of Marmaduke.

Nileane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond Drope; son, Doug Drope; grandson, Hunter Drope; brothers, Glen Rodgers, Dale Rodgers, and Paul Rodgers; and sisters, Joyce Harper, Beverly Hensley, and Louise Rodgers.

Survivors include her sons and daughters in law, Dale and Tonya Drope, Bruce and Misty Drope; daughters, Debby Looney and Donna Jernigan; brothers, Steve Rodgers and David Rodgers; sisters, Melba Williams, Linda Stuart, and Bonnie Johnson; grandchildren, Eric Reddick, Jennifer Matthews, Sarah Dill, Shawn Jernigan, Bryan Jernigan, Blaine Jernigan, Chelsea Henson, Colby Drope, Jayden Drope, Brittany Burlison, Taylor Gramling, Brooke Barnes, and Keely Drope; and great-grandchildren, Emma Grace Reddick, Brookes Reddick, Jackson Wheeler, Sperry Matthews, Declan Matthews, Harper Jernigan, Campbell Jernigan, Amos Jernigan, Annabeth Jernigan, Sloane Jernigan, Norah Jernigan, Finley Jernigan, Cinch Henson, Reinslynn Henson, Latigo Henson, and Hiatt Burlison.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 28, from 12:00 p.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Aaron Matthews and Sonny Dill officiating. Burial will follow at Harvey’s Chapel Cemetery.

Nileane's grandsons, Eric Reddick, Shawn Jernigan, Blaine Jernigan, Bryan Jernigan, Colby Drope, and Jayden Drope will serve as pallbearers.

A special honorary pallbearer will be Nileane’s grandson, Hunter Drope.

Nileane's great grandsons, Jackson Wheeler, Brookes Reddick, Sperry Mathews, Declan Matthews, Amos Jernigan, Cinch Henson, and Hiatt Burlison will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Family and friends are invited to Providence Baptist Church on Highway 34 for a meal after the service.
