Norman Dale Franks, 80, of Paragould Arkansas, passed away at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House on May 1st, 2023. Dale was born January 3rd, 1943, in Goobertown, Arkansas, to the late Frank and Gladys Lamb Franks. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Charles, Rex, Gene, Roy, Bobby, Weldon, and Charles-Kelly, and his sisters, Lavedna and Linda. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Sarah Lady Franks of Paragould, his daughter, Gaye Smith, his son, Bryan (Vivian) Franks, and his seven grandchildren, Austin Smith, Natalie (Logan) Harrell, Tyler Franks, Preslee Sharpe, Haley Doman, Jordan Doman, and Reese Doman. He also leaves behind two beautiful great-grandchildren, Heidi and Bennett Harrell, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Dale is a 1961 graduate of Dixie High School who spent his youth growing up on a farm and playing basketball with his brothers and dear friends. Dale has always been a die-hard Arkansas Razorback fan. Many would say that the joy of his life was getting to watch his children and grandchildren play sports. A retired parts manager for Curtis Cruse and Emerson Electric, Dale loved to work with his hands. He could often be found working in his backyard shop, growing his vegetable garden, and maintaining his truck.
Visitation will be at Phillips Funeral Home on Friday, May 5, from 11:00 a.m. until service time. The funeral service will begin at noon at Phillips Funeral Home with Tracy Archibald officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Dennis Hampton, Tyler Franks, Austin Smith, Danny McDaniel, Scott Miller, and Logan Harrell.
The Franks family is thankful for the nurses and staff at Dierksen Hospice for being so kind and attentive during Dale’s final days. Memorials can be made to Dierksen Hospice and the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House.
