Mrs. Obelia Ann “Bede” Sewell, 85, passed from this earth on Monday, January 18, 2021.
Bede was born on June 8, 1935, in Monticello, Arkansas, the daughter of Van and Eula May Cruce. She was a graduate of Monticello High School. She worked at the Social Security Administration for over 30 years. Throughout her life, she enjoyed spending time with her family, being outdoors, gardening, fishing, reading John Grisham books and cooking.
She is preceded in death by her husband and best friend, Robert J. Sewell; parents, Van and Eula May Cruce; sisters, Mavis (Reginald) Sewell, Charlotte (Daniel) Hornaday, Patricia Fisher; brother, Jerry (Dorthy) Cruce; two sons, Robbie Sewell and Scott Brackin.
She will be greatly missed by her family: children, Jan (Louis) Hartley, Karen (Harlan) Wentz, Teresa Ann (Abe) Kelly, Timothy Jay (Layla Markum) Brackin, Tracy (Keith) Mosbey and Toni (Scott) Harris. Grandchildren, Bobby Hartley, Chris Simmons, Jason Hartley, Leslie Yost, Bryan Roswell, Jordon Brackin, Toby Wentz, Robby Wentz, Jamie Brackin, Cory Brackin, Nick Brackin, Matthew Mosbey, Mallorye Mosbey Ring, Logan Harris, Andrew Kelly, Seth Kelly and Emma Kelly. Sister in law, Rita Sewell Bower.
Her many great-grandchildren will also miss her great wit and wisdom.
Private family graveside services will take place in the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Logan Harris officiating. Out of respect for personal and public safety a public Celebration of Life service will be announced when Covid-19 restrictions become relaxed.
