Randy Brinkley Obituary

Randy Ervin Brinkley, 71, departed this life for his heavenly reward on March 22, 2024. He was born outside of Marmaduke, AR in a 4 room sharecropper’s house to Arlin Lee and Nita Willene Saylor Brinkley (later named Nita Brinkley Smith) on July 16, 1952. The doctor’s bill for delivering him was $30.

He was predeceased by his parents, eldest brother, Larry Brinkley, and sisters-in-law Melinda Brinkley, and Sandra Lentz. Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Joyce Kaylene (Tene) Lentz Brinkley, his children: Kirk (Shelley) Brinkley, Jade (Jonathan) McDaniel, Kim Smith, and Brian Brinkley, and grandchildren: Halle Brinkley, Collins and Conner McDaniel, Megan White, Jacob, Maddie, and Kyle Smith, Aaliyah and Violet Brinkley. Other survivors include: his brothers Terry (Regina) Brinkley, Phil (Karen) Brinkley, Danny (Sally) Brinkley all of Paragould, brother-in-law Jim Bob Lentz and lifelong best friend Rick (Linda) Dickinson along with many special nieces and nephews.

Randy’s career began by running Lentz Auto Parts and Station in Marmaduke. At the age of 44, he started working for the State of Arkansas with the Department of Workforce Education and finished with the AR Economic Development Commission. He retired at age 69, right after contracting a blood cancer called MDS which eventually took his life.

Randy was a longtime member at Union Central church of Christ, where he served for several years as an elder. This position gave him great joy, serving his Lord, Redeemer, and Savior, Jesus Christ. Randy was known as the Holy Spirit elder. He enjoyed spending time at the lake, kayaking the river, watching his kids’ sporting events, Mopars, trading cars, motorcycles, and keeping everything clean and organized. Randy was known for his generous nature. He never missed an opportunity to help someone in need. His love and devotion to the Lord and his family was evident to all who knew him.
