Ruth Ellen Barron, 85, of Marmaduke, passed away Sunday, October 06, 2019, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. She was born October 22, 1933, in Wallace, Arkansas, to Shirdy and Parilee Stewart. Ruth was a longtime member of Lake Street Baptist Church and she sang with the Lake Street Band for 8 years. She retired from L.A. Darling. Ruth enjoyed watching her grandchildren play ball and she loved the Razorbacks. Everyone affectionately referred to her as “Granny.” She was a kind, loving woman that will be dearly missed.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Russell Stewart and J.W. Stewart; sister, Faye Mathis; and son in law, Gary Brown.
Survivors include her husband, Harlan “Frog” Barron; daughters, Sheila Brown, Kathy Smoker and her husband, Michael, all of Paragould; step daughters, Tina Newsom and her husband, Carson, of Sherwood, Arkansas, and Judy Wyles of Little Rock, Arkansas; grandchildren, Michael Chastain and his wife, Charletta, and David Newsom and his wife, Adara, Kim Ennis, Michelle Pearson and her husband, Robert, Melissa Brown, Mary Flynn and her husband, Larry; great grandchildren, Clifton and Taylor Chastain, Austin, Bailey, and Tanner Flynn; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 8, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Wednesday, October 9, at 10:00 a.m. in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home with Wayne Faulkner officiating. Burial will follow at Woods Chapel Cemetery.
Michael Chastain, Cecil Ford, Clifton Chastain, Jerry Bob Hoepfl, Tim Mathis, and Barry Smoker will serve as pallbearers.
