Sammy Doyle Easley, 79, of Paragould, passed away Friday, May 5, 2023. He was born April 13, 1944, in Marmaduke, to Ellis and Ann Easley. Sammy was well known for his days of playing sports. He was one of the best basketball, softball, horseshoe and cornhole players around. If you couldn’t find Sammy in the gym, or fishing hole he was probably at the casino. He always loved a game of competition.
Sammy was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Holcomb Easley; brothers, Eddie Easley and Donnie Smithee; sisters, Polly Rubbo and Jane Benson; and granddaughter, Hanna Clark.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Bryan and Jackie Easley, Randy and Stephanie Easley; daughter and son-in-law, Meleia and Johnnie Clark; brother, Chuck Grigsby; sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlene and Scott Mitchell, Arletta and Junior Shelton; grandchildren, Jonna and Kyle Manley, Zane Clark, Skyler and Braxton Easley, Macy Easley, Chris and Maranda Goode, Caree “Little'n” and Terry McAbee; great-grandchildren, Lynnlei Belle Manley, Lincoln Cash Easley, Braxton Goode, Colton Sickler, Kayden Goode, Bryana Pfeffer, and Aiden McAbee.
The family will receive friends Monday, May 8, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, at Phillips Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens.
Kyle Manley, Chris Goode, Scott Mitchell, Terry McAbee, Charlie Eno, and Carl Crabtree will serve as pallbearers. Special friends and honorary pallbearers will be James Cure and Chris Busby.
