Samuel Willcoxson Obituary

Samuel Andrew Willcoxson, 87, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2020. He was born December 5, 1932, to Wake and Selma Willcoxson. Samuel retired from General Motors after 31 years and had 34 happy years of retirement in Paragould. He loved his animals and traveling. He and his wife, Helen traveled for years with the Senior Bees and vacationed north, south, east and west. He was an Army Veteran and a member of Walcott Baptist Church. He was affiliated with the Woodsmen of the World for over 65 years and the U. A. W.

Samuel was preceded in death by his parents, Wake and Selma Willcoxson; son, David Willcoxson; step son, Ollie James Noble; and sisters, Wava Potter (Henry) and Loretta Jordan (Bill).

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Helen Willcoxson of the home; daughter, Martha Townsend of Flint, MI; step children, Nora Simino, Joyce Carranza, and Bobbie Jean DeMott (Al); sister, Ava Lou Hyde of Paragould; nephews, James Potter and Harvey Potter (Linda), Evan Hyde (Tina); and niece, Sabrina Gramling (Larry).

Following the COVID – 19 guidelines, the family will receive friends on Saturday, May 2, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home.  A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Rev Nathan Gramling officiating.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the caregivers, Sammy, and the staff at Belle Meade for the wonderful care Mr. Willcoxson received.
