Thelma Faye Dowdy

Thelma Faye Dowdy, 77, of Paragould, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021.  She was born July 19, 1944, in Monette, Arkansas, to Robert and Mary Folkes.  Thelma was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church.  Taking care of family was the joy of Thelma’s life.  She enjoyed every moment with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Rebecca Davis; five brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, J.D. Dowdy; sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Teresa Dowdy, Jimmy and Amy Dowdy; daughters and son-in-law, Sheila and Anthony McLaughlin, and Tammy Dowdy; sister, Anna Martin; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday, October 17, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at New Friendship Baptist Church.  The funeral service under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home will begin at 2:00 p.m. at New Friendship Baptist Church with Conway Safirt officiating.  Burial will follow at New Friendship Cemetery.
