Vera Phillips Obituary

Vera Mae Phillips, 89, of Marmaduke passed away Sunday, March 24, 2024.  She was born in Stanford, Arkansas, March 8, 1935 to Herman and Lora Wamble.  Vera's early years were spent at Stanford School, where she graduated in 1953.  She married the love of her life, Berlie, in 1953.  Vera chose a path that she believed in with her whole heart: she dedicated her life to caring for her family.  She and Berlie raised four children on their family farm.  Vera's life was marked by the warmth of her kitchen.  She was known for her exceptional cooking skills, with homemade pies that were the highlight of every family gathering. Her recipes were a blend of tradition and love that she passed on to her family.  She was always available to answer any cooking questions.  Vera and Berlie were blessed with a 70-year marriage that endured the test of time.  Her wit and spirit were something to behold, no one ever ceased to laugh in her presence.

A devout Christian woman, Vera was a long-standing member of the Union Central Church of Christ. Her faith was the cornerstone not only for her but for her husband and four children, whom she raised with love and patience.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Berlin Wamble, Gaylon Wamble, Bob Rowe, and Joe Wamble; sisters, Roberta Abbott, Lilian Howard, Bonnie June Hnatiuk, Clara Jean Harvey, and Judy Wamble; and a great-grandson, Luke Kellums.
