Wilson Thaddeus “Thad” Mangrum, 89, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Monday, January 25, 2021. He was born in Stanford, on November 23, 1931, where he was raised. Thad lived in Greene County most of his life. Thaddeus married Marian Alice Welch on March 14, 1953. Thad was a devoted member of Greensboro Road Church of Christ and he was a proud Army veteran.
Thaddeus was preceded in death by his parents, Buford and Gladys Mangrum, four brothers, and two sisters.
In their early years together, Thad and Marian farmed in Greene County and raised Black Angus cattle and hogs. Later on, Thad leveled land all over northeast Arkansas. He enjoyed working with farm equipment. Thad also enjoyed baseball, basketball, checkers, and a good game of 42 with dominoes.
Thad was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Thaddeus is survived by his wife, Marian Alice Mangrum; his daughters, Marian Laufrain (David) Taylor of Greenwood, Arkansas, Urain (Rick) Cook of Bellflower, California, and Cherain (Marc) Smith of Irvine, California; four grandchildren, Londi (Michael) Seigler, Ian (Kelsey) Taylor, Madelyn Cook, and Ryan Cook.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time Wednesday, January 27, at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service with military honors will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Terry Joe Kee officiating. Burial will be private.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Taylor, Rick Cook, Marc Smith, Ryan Cook, Ian Taylor, and Michael Seigler.
