Miss Ruth worked at Ben Franklin with my mom, Fay McEntire, in Walnut Ridge for several years. I remember her sweet kind spirit and always so positive and loving. My mom considered her a good friend. My thoughts and prayers for the family.

When I was just a lad, barely in college, Ruth became a surrogate mom to me for many meals, lots of loving conversation, and support--enough to last even now. She was generous, caring, and such a vital force in her family. Her loving husband, Larkin, was equally magnanimous, as were her sons and her extended family. May the peace that only God can give be with Jack, especially, but also all those who were fortunate enough to know the grace that was Ruth Ballard.
